Gnocchi, Pesto and Bolognese Sauce

Mid Fall at the Botanic Gardens

I don’t know why but I prefer looking at shriveled, dead plants in the fall to full summer glory. Texture and edges are sharper and more clear. Colors are more complex and less candy-like.

Chicken Stock

Thanks to the High Plains Food Coop, I had these two delicious stewing chickens waiting for me when I got back from Thanksgiving. I chose not to roast them because I was worried that they might get too tough. These pictures show the stock after 16 hours of very slow cooking. My favorite chicken soup? Plain with cheese tortellini of course.
